Open Adventure Series - Ongoing throughout 2009
The open adventure series was set up by James Thurlow in 2004 in reaction to the lack of adventure racing in the North of England.
The series consists of three events that run throughout the year. These events are Open5, Open12 and Open24. For more information on individual races see below or visit the Open Adventure website.
Sussex Beacon Half Marathon - 22nd February
The first NB event of the year starts and ends on the Brighton seafront making the event a firm favourite in the UK race calendar.
Edinburgh Marathon - 5th April 2009
The Edinburgh was rated the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World magazine. The course has an overall elevation drop of over 50m which should make it a good course for those looking for a good time or personal best.
Belfast City Marathon - 4th May
Over 15,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of the city starting a 9am at the Belfast City Hall and finishing at Ormeau Park.

Open 5 - Keswick - 5th May 2009
Competitors have 5 hours to visit as many points as they can. Some can only be collected by mountain bike, others by foot.
Open12 - 27th/28th June 08
Competitors have 12 hours to visit as many points as they can. The event will be split into a number of stages were they will change over disciplines.

Competitors have 24 hours to visit as many points as they can. The event will be split into a number of stages were competitors chage over disciplines.
Robin Hood Marathon - 13th September 2009
Firmly established in the athletics calendar, this is the 9th Robin Hood Marathon and we believe this race is going from strength to strength and is aiming to be one of the best in the country.
New Balance English Half Marathon - 4th October 2009
The inaugral New Balance English Half Marathon is the latest addition to the road race calendar. The event starts (9am) and finishes at Victoria Park, Warrington. Cardiff Half Marathon - 18th October 2009
The Cardiff Half Marathon is a Barnardos Cymru event in partnership with Cardiff City Council. They are delighted to welcome runners from al over the UK showing its fast growth in the UK running calendar.
Great Cumbrian Run - 25th October 2009
The picturesque Carlise Castle forms the start point for this new city centre route passing Carlise Cathedral and the Citadel within the first mile.
